Horseracing was started at the Goodwood Racecourse by the 3rd Duke of Richmond in 1802. It continues to stage twenty -one days of the finest racing in the sporting calendar as well as being a firm diary date in the English Summer Season. The July Festival Meeting, known affectionately as "Glorious Goodwood", has been a unique part of the British racing and social calendar since 1814.
All five days offer top class action, with races over the full range of distances. Away from the track, the Richmond Enclosure lawns are adorned with fashion cognescenti and celebrities from sport, stage and screen.
